Our Scripture reading today is James 4:14, "Whereas ye know not what shall be
on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and
then vanisheth away."
A very familiar verse to many Christians is this reminder that our physical lives compared
to eternity is very short. Their are some people who live what we consider long lives
by living into their 80s-90s. Their are others who we say their lives were cut short when
they died in their teens or twenties. Honestly, both scenarios are short lives when they
are lined up beside eternity. Psalm 102:11, "My days are like a shadow that declineth;
and I am withered like grass."
Your vapour is coming out the kettle so you had better make sure you are ready to
meet God. Have your sins been washed away by the blood of the Lamb of God?
As a child of God, are you living for self or for the Saviour? Now is the time to put
away childish things and serve the King!
