Our Scripture reading today is Genesis 2:21-25.
Verse 24, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
When we said, "I do", to our spouse, they became our #1 earthly relationship. All other relationships are to take a back seat to the marriage relationship. This is what God's Word means regarding leaving and cleaving. As we learned in recent months, marriage math tells us the one plus one equals one. (Pastor Sexton) While I love and honour my parents, my primary focus is to love and meet the needs of my wife. This is how God ordained marriage. I could say the same regarding my relationship with my children. God did not intend for children to be a part of marriage math.
My challenge to each one reading this today is for you to pray every day for your marriage. We can also pray for the marriages within your family and local church. If you are single, I would like to encourage you as well to pray for the marriages in your family and local church. Satan's goal is to divide and conquer and we need God's power to be victorious.
