Our Scripture reading today is Habakkuk 3:2, "O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD,
revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy."
The prophet Habakkuk served the LORD in a very difficult time. He knew very well that
the people did not deserve mercy. They needed a personal revival which would lead to a
national revival. We can attribute this same sentiment to the church today. Far too much
worldliness can be found in the lives of God's people. We do not deserve anything but
judgement. “O God, have mercy upon thy poor church, and visit her, and revive her. She has but a little
strength; she has desired to keep thy word; oh, refresh her; restore to her thy power, and give her yet to
be great in this land.” (Spurgeon)
We must plead with God for His mercy. Praise Him that they are new every day.
Lamentations 3:22-23, "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions
fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
