Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 91:9-10, "Because thou hast made the LORD,
which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."
There is a very encouraging promise found in these verses of Scripture. We have
shelter from evil and plague when we make the LORD our dwelling place. This
means we make the LORD our goal and He is our satisfaction. “Martin Luther wrote that
this refers to ‘one who really dwells and does not merely appear to dwell and does not just
imagine that he dwells’ in God.” (Boice) He is our rock and in Him we hide. While we are
not exempt from suffering, weare protected from evil. The child of God is safe in the everlasting arms of God.
