Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 1:7, "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

Every disciple of Jesus Christ will have his or her faith tried.  It is an inevitable
part of the Christian life.  The word, tried, means found good, faithful, or trustworthy through
experience or testing.  Our faith needs trying in order for it to be strengthened and see growth.
Pastor Adrian Rogers once said, "A faith that hasn't been tested can't be trusted."

Faith that continues to be strengthened through testing is a faith that brings
more and more glory to God.  Tried faith is more lasting than the most precious of medals, gold.
