Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 27:6, "And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies
round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises
unto the LORD."
The family of God no longer assembles in a tabernacle, but we do gather in His church.
It is our responsibility and privilege to lift our voices in praise together unto the LORD.
He alone is worthy of our praise. The church is to assemble so much the more as we see
the return of Christ approaching. (Hebrews 10:25) I would have to say that in almost
25 years of pastoring, Christians are assembling less and less. Why is this taking place?
Why is the family of God not seeking first His kingdom? I am sure there are various
reasons but mostly excuses. Is God worthy of our faithfulness to His house? Did God
provide a way for sinners to be forgiven of their sins?
We are living in a day of apathy. It is time for the family of God to wake up spiritually and
give God their best. This includes setting aside all day Sunday to assemble morning and
evening with the family of God. It also includes if at all possible any meeting the church
is having. More and more as we see the day approaching, not less and less.
