Happy Thanksgiving!

Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 95:1-3.

Verse 2, "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."

Every day that we have is a gift from Almighty God.  He is the giver and sustainer of life.  In Psalm 95, we are encouraged to give praise and thanksgiving to our great God.  The emphasis in these first three verses of the chapter centres around our singing.  There is something special about singing praise to our God.  On Saturday at the ordination service, we sang two hymns.  We had recorded piano music to sing with, but it did not work for both of the songs.  The congregation lifted their voices in praise to God as we sang acapella, It Is Well with My Soul.  I stopped singing and listened for a few moments.  WOW!  It was a warm up for Heaven.  Praise the Lord for the privilege we have of giving Him praise!

On this Thanksgiving Day, I would like to encourage you to have a time of singing praise to God before celebrating around the table or the football game.  Pick a hymn or two and "make a joyful noise unto Him."
