Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 4:1-6.
Verse 4, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
This verse from the Word of God always gives me great hope. The moment a sinner turns to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and eternal life, they become a child of God. Let that sink in a little bit. We are children of the creator God. He is our Father. This truth should encourage us regarding overcoming the world, the flesh and of course, the devil. We are equipped with God's Spirit and can have victory through His power.
Those believers who are not experiencing victory are not filled with the Spirit. They are making the decisions for their life instead of being under the control of Who is in them. God's Spirit will always lead us to victory and this will be according to the will of God. Even though we are indwelt by His Spirit, we still need to daily yield ourselves to the One Who has the power to enable us to be an overcomer.
