Our Scripture reading today is Romans 7:14-18.
Verse 14, "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin."
The famous battle within us as Christians is not a new concept.  The Apostle Paul gives a bit of a tongue twister but the emphasis is clearly seen.  Even after we come to Jesus Christ for salvation, there is an inward battle of flesh versus Spirit.  God's Spirit is now indwelling us and He has a desire to fill us.  This would mean God's Spirit would have complete control over our daily decisions. As we read verse 18, we are reminded of the other half still "in" us.  The flesh seems to come back to life every day.  It must be put back to death or it will cause much discouragement and defeat.
Our daily victory will be determined by the decision to yield to the Holy Spirit and die to the flesh.  It seems like such a simple decision that every believer would be quick to make.  Unfortunately the grip of the flesh on even the saved can be very tight.  The sooner we get more in love with Jesus Christ and less in love with the world, the easier it will be to loosen the grip of the flesh.  We were saved to live from victory to victory!
