Our Scripture reading today is James 3:5-6.
 
Verse 5, "Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great 
a matter a little fire kindleth!"
 
This "little member" of our body has the power to help and to hurt.  It can cause
great sorrow or bring great blessings.  Our tongue must be yielded to the Spirit
of God in order to be used correctly.  A spirit filled man or woman will encourage
and edify others with their little member.  “In the two former illustrations, animals and ships
are controlled by small objects; in this last illustration, a huge forest is destroyed by a tiny spark.
The tongue likewise can either control or destroy.” (Burdick)
