Our Scripture reading today is Jeremiah 20:9, "Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay."
Jeremiah had no choice but to speak the truth. The Word of God was in His heart in such
a way that he was unable to hold it in. He was a prophet of God in a time when few
people listened to what he had to say. It must have been quite challenging to say the
least. “Under the stress and strain of his sufferings, he was tempted to abandon the work, to refuse to speak any more in the name of Jehovah. But when he attempted thus to find release from suffering in silence, it was impossible; for such silence became more intolerable than suffering.” (Morgan)
As we mentioned last night, it is our responsibility to obey God and deliver the truth.
It is up to God to supply the results.
